To ensure the SkySlope family of products is operating at optimum performance, it's essential that your device and browser meet the system requirements. In this article, we'll dive deep into the recommended system requirements for SkySlope, and we'll share some tips and technical best practices for getting the most out of SkySlope.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Recommended for Best Experience

Here at SkySlope, we design our web-based platform to be compatible with the best, most current technology. This allows us to ensure SkySlope transaction management and forms products will always be here to help you manage your business.

Similarly, ensuring that your computer and internet browsers are always up-to-date will allow you to get the most out of SkySlope. SkySlope is supported on all major internet browsers (such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge) and will perform best on the most current browser version. Here on the Support team, we recommend Chrome and Firefox; they are user friendly, easily customizable, and most importantly, they can be updated separately from your operating system, making it easier to keep them up-to-date.

Many of our users, like most people, have a preference between Windows and Mac devices, and we want you to use the device that best fits your business and your workflow. SkySlope is compatible with both Windows and Mac devices, and will perform best with the most current operating system installed.

In a nutshell, keep your computer and internet browsers up-to-date, and it'll be smooth sailing! ⛵️

BEST PRACTICES

Clearing Cache and Cookies

Your internet browser stores data in the "cache" to prevent having to re-download that data again in the future. Saving data to the cache makes web browsing faster. "Cookies" that are stored pertain more to your browsing history and user preferences. Over time, the stored cache and cookies data can bog down your browser's performance. Clearing your browser's cache and cookies will allow your browser to perform better. We recommend regularly clearing your browser's cache and cookies to ensure smooth performance.

Update Your Internet Browser

In most cases, your preferred internet browser can be updated in just a few clicks. Take a look at the resources below to learn how to update your internet browser.

Update Google Chrome

Update Mozilla Firefox

Some browsers, such as Microsoft Edge and Apple Safari, can only be updated when the device's operating system is updated. This process can be a bit more complicated; depending on the age of your device, it may not be compatible with the most current operating system. If you are using Edge or Safari and are encountering technical issues with SkySlope, but you are not able or prepared to update your entire operating system, you could consider installing a different internet browser that can be updated separately from the operating system, such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

Update Your Operating System

Your device's operating system (OS) is what allows you to manage all of the other functions and programs you can use on your device. Updating a device's operating system allows you update the technology and capability of your device without having to buy a whole new computer. It's essential to the health of your device, and your experience within all of your favorite programs, that you keep your computer's operating system up-to-date.

Please note: Older devices may not always be capable of supporting the newest versions of operating systems. Consult your IT professional or team to see what options are available if you are not able to upgrade.

Ensure Your Date and Time are Synced

If you have been attempting to sign in to SkySlope and have been running into your browser refreshing the home screen repeatedly, it may be a sign that the time and date settings on your computer are out of sync.

Learn how to sync the date and time on your computer.

Common Troublemakers

Items on the list below have been known to cause problems and disrupt the SkySlope workflow. We recommend avoiding their use when possible:

  • VPN (Virtual Private Network)
  • Malware/Antivirus software
  • Inadequate internet speed
  • A corrupt Google Profile (This can be resolved by navigating to your Google Chrome settings and clicking Reset Settings)
  • Incorrect date and time on your device
  • Secured/Corrupt PDF documents (Contact Support for assistance)

Browser Extensions

Browser extensions are software programs that add custom functions to your browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, etc). They serve various purposes, such as ad blocking, managing passwords, grammar checking, or enhancing productivity with tools. (Ex. Adobe) Too many extensions can slow down your browser, so it’s important to only keep the ones you use!

If you need to manage or remove extensions, the steps will vary depending on which internet browser you're using.

  • Google Chrome: Open Chrome and click on the three dots (menu) in the top-right corner.
Go to More tools > Extensions.
  • Firefox: Open Firefox, click on the three horizontal lines (menu), then go to Add-ons and themes.
  • Edge: Click on the three dots in the upper-right corner, then go to Extensions. Here, you can see all your installed extensions.
  • Safari: Open Safari and click Safari in the top menu, then select Settings. Click the Extensions tab to see all installed extensions.

Once you land on the Extensions page, you can manage individual Extensions:

  • Enable: Turn the toggle on next to an extension.

  • Disable: Turn the toggle off next to an extension.

  • Use when needed: Some extensions can be turned off temporarily but kept installed for later use.

Zoom In and Out

Using the zoom tools on your browser can make everything from reviewing documents to sending contracts easier. However, if you're not on the correct zoom percentage, you can find it quite challenging to navigate from page to page.

Your internet browser will default to 100% zoom, which is the same as full size. Anything above 100% would be larger; anything below 100% would be smaller. Here is an example:

zoom_percentages.png

You should be able to navigate through SkySlope at 100% zoom, but if you do want to change your view, you can use your browser's zoom tool to do so. For most internet browsers, you can open the Menu, and then locate the Zoom option. Next to Zoom, you should see ➕ and ➖ options; click the ➕ icon to zoom in (make your screen view larger) and the ➖ icon to zoom out (make your screen view smaller).

Disable Pop-Up Blocker

There are a handful of different functions in SkySlope that will require you to use pop-ups on your internet browser. By default, your internet browser may have these blocked. Let's walk you through how to disable those pop-ups only for SkySlope, to ensure your computer is fully protected and fully SkySlope-ready.
