Tasks / Reminders date feature

It would be nice if in the tasks/reminders it would give you the option to use a specific date but still be able to send the reminder X days before or after. As it is now, in order to use the X days before or after, you need to pick an "event" from the dropdown list and they are all associated with file dates. But if you're keeping track of when earnest money is due or when certain deadlines approach, it would be more helpful if one of the dropdown options is "specific date" or something like that. Then you can put in the date you want it to remind you X number of days before.
