status pending vs complete

It would be great if after accepting a document that was pending if there was a way to still mark the line item as incomplete or waiting for additional paperwork.  Example - if there are 2 earnest money deposits for a transaction - when the first check is entered and accepted it automatically marks as complete however since we are waiting on a 2nd check it is still incomplete.  A comment is ok but that doesn't alert the agent that an item is actually missing.
