Split Document Screen - NOT full screen

Hello - the split document screen used to be full screen but for the past few months I have only gotten this half screen. Requires me to scroll both sides and is pretty frustrating. This isn't really a "feature request," but I'm hoping you can help fix this. Thank you for your time.
