If you have a lot of transactions, it would be nice to have the last name of the client in a column before the address on the manage transaction lists.

Thanks for the feedback, Bob!

I have a few follow-up questions, which I'm hoping you can help me answer:

  • Why is client last name an important column? Do you find or sort property files based on client last name?
  • Do you have property files that are similar, but the difference is the client name?
  • Our global search indexes on client name - have you tried using our global search? If so, what do you like / not like about the global search?

Thanks again,

Carlo, Product Manager

Hi Carlo!

Thanks for asking.

There are three important fields when locating a transaction for us. Processors use the address. Agents usually use the name. And we all use the escrow number. Having those three in a list view that can be sorted by those three makes it really easy to find what you are looking for at a glance.

Search is great if you are looking for one thing and I love it for that. But when you have a bunch of transactions that you are going back and forth on, and you have the list in front of you, you are one click away from being where you want to be. With search, you have to click, type, and click. It would be a time saver. Just make the column headings hyperlinks that sort based on that column.

Also, I used to be a human factors specialist. One nono was allowing people to sort by a field that is not visible in a list. There is no context and it confuses the user. So for active transactions, when you provide a dropdown that allows me to choose escrow number, but there is no escrow number field in the list, it creates confusion.

We have discussed this Manage Transactions screen a lot. It really has become the central place for vital information at a glance. We love Skyslope! We've talked about what is the most important information on the screen for fewer clicks and less traveling to other pages that wastes time. The general consensus is Last Name, Address, Escrow #, EM deadline, Inspection Deadline, Closing Date, Incomplete items, a checklist icon hyperlinked to the transactions checklist, and the delete icon to delete.   If those were the headings and they were all hyperlinked to do ascending or descending, I personally think it would reduce the number of clicks and page loads. And we all want lower server hits.

Anyway, thanks for asking. A lot of real estate oriented companies do not take user input serious and you can tell from the quality. So it is nice to get this message from you. We used to live in Rocklin. If I was still there I would have loved to see your office.

Have a good one.
