DigiSign is a flexible e-signature tool that allows you to get contracts executed fast! In this article, we'll go over the actions available for envelopes in DigiSign. Keep reading to level up in DigiSign!
Envelope Statuses
The actions available for any given DigiSign envelope will depend upon the envelope's status.
- Draft - A Draft envelope is still in the preparation process, and has not yet been sent.
- Sent/In Progress - A Sent/In Progress envelope has been prepared and sent to the signers/recipients.
- Correcting - An envelope in the Correcting status has been sent to the signers, but is now in the process of being edited. An envelope cannot be signed while it's in this status.
- Canceled - A Canceled envelope has been sent to the signers, but was then canceled. Once an envelope is canceled, it cannot be restored or signed.
- Completed - A Completed envelope is an envelope that has been signed by all signers.

Envelope Actions
Now for the fun part! What can we do with all of these options?! Let's break them down one by one.
Delete Draft
If you have a Draft envelope, you can either continue preparing the envelope or delete the envelope.
To continue preparing the envelope, single-click on the envelope to open it. Then you can continue preparing it to be signed.
To delete the draft envelope, click on More. Then select Delete Draft.
Rename Envelope
You can use this option on any envelope to change the envelope name. We recommend giving your envelope a name that makes it easy to tell what it includes (which clients, which documents, etc). Here are a few examples:
- Seller Disclosures
- Maple Ave - Offer
- Nancy - Buyer Agreement
Correct Envelope
If you need to make changes to a sent envelope that has not yet been signed by all parties, you can correct the envelope. To correct the envelope, locate the envelope on your DigiSign Dashboard. Then click More and select Correct Envelope.

If your envelope is already in the Correcting status, this means that you began making your changes, but didn't send the envelope. To proceed with editing and sending your envelope, click on the envelope to be taken back to where you left off. You must send the envelope to change it from Correcting to Sent to allow it to be signed; an envelope cannot be signed in the Correcting status.
Send Reminder
Use this option to send a fresh email invitation to your signer, prompting them to sign the document. Locate the envelope on your DigiSign Dashboard. Then click More and select Send Reminder.

Download Envelope
Use this option if you wish to save a copy of the document onto your device. This option is available for all envelope statuses, with the exception of Draft envelopes. When you download the document, it will be saved in its current state. This means if only one of your two signers has completed signing when you download the document, the document will only have the first signer's signatures. If you download a document when it is completed, it will contain all signatures.
Download Certificate
In a nutshell, the DigiSign Certificate of Completion shows a formal view of who signed the envelope and when. When you download the certificate, a copy of the certificate will be saved onto your device as a PDF. The certificate is not available for envelopes in the Canceled or Correcting status, as both of those actions inhibit the signing process. To view more detailed information about envelopes in the Canceled or Correcting status, please refer to the Envelope History (see more below).

View History
Each DigiSign Envelope has a History, a log of all actions taken on the envelope from the time it was created. When viewing the history, you will see a summary of envelope details at the top and a list of all major actions taken on that envelope. For example, you can see when the sender created the envelope, when a signer opened the envelope and accepted their signature, and when a recipient viewed the completed document. When you are on the Envelope History page, you have the option to print and download the history as well.
Cancel Envelope
As it sounds, this option allows you to cancel an in-flight envelope. For example, if you prepared an Offer and sent it to your buyers to sign, but they decided at the last minute that they want to increase their offer price, you can cancel the envelope to prevent them from signing the envelope. In some situations, you may be able to make changes an easier way by correcting the envelope. But if you're certain you need to cancel the envelope, navigate to the More menu and select Cancel Envelope. You will be asked to confirm that you want to cancel the envelope.
Note: Once you cancel an envelope, it cannot be undone. The envelope cannot be restored. Additionally, you cannot cancel or void a completed envelope in DigiSign.
