Each envelope created and sent with DigiSign has an envelope certificate that is accessible to the sender and any signers or recipients. The certificate can provide lots of useful information about the validity of the envelope, when and where it was signed, and more.
DigiSign Certificate of Completion
Here's an example of a DigiSign Certificate:
The Certificate of Completion is broken down into three main parts:
Envelope Details
At the top of the Certificate, you can find details of the envelope, such as the unique envelope ID, the sender's name and email address, and when the envelope was sent and completed.
Signer Events
- The Signer Events section records when each action was taken by any signer/recipient.
- Envelope Sent: When the envelope was originally sent by the sender.
- Envelope Viewed: When the envelope was first viewed by that signer/recipient.
- Disclosure Accepted: When the signer accepts the DigiSign Disclosure Agreement. This does not pertain to the terms of the document(s) they are signing, but rather the use of the DigiSign e-signature platform. More on this below.
- Signature Accepted: When the signer selects or draws, and then accepts their signature.
- Envelope Completed: When the signer has completed their portion of the requirements on the document.
- Note: If a signer proceeds through the checkpoints above, such as accepting the disclosure and their signature, but doesn't actually complete the signing, all of the preceding dates for completed actions will be re-recorded when the action is done again.
- For example, Tommy opens the envelope, accepts the disclosure, and selects his signature on Monday, but then exits the envelope before he completes signing. Those actions will all have Monday listed on the Certificate. Then, Tommy starts over on Tuesday. The date and time for all checkpoints on the Certificate will be re-recorded to show the most recent time that action was taken (in this example, on Tuesday).
E-Sign Consumer Disclosure
After the one-page envelope certificate, you will find a copy of our E-Sign Consumer Disclosure and Consent form. The terms outlined in this document are what signers agree to when they first open an envelope and click I Agree. Any signer can click the link to review the terms prior to clicking I Agree.
Accessing the Certificate
Sender View
As the sender, you can access an envelope's certificate from your DigiSign Dashboard. Simply log into your account, and then navigate to DigiSign. Locate the envelope, and then click on More. Finally, click Download Certificate.
Signer/Recipient View
As the signer or recipient of a DigiSign document (or anyone who is looking at the document PDF), accessing the envelope certificate is as easy as clicking on the unique envelope ID. Each envelope has an envelope ID in the upper-left corner of each page of the envelope. As long as the PDF is still in its original format, that envelope ID is a link that will take you right to the envelope certificate!
